Journey into my world.
I would like to acknowledge and pay my respects to the First People of Bundjalung Country, the place upon which I work. I recognise their elders from the past, present and future, as the traditional owners and custodians of the land and waters of this beautiful Country. I especially recognise that those of us whose ancestors have come to Australia in the more recent past, have much to learn from the traditional owners about the plants and animals of our home, and that these plants and animals were already known and named.
Welcome to my place online. I hope to be able to show you how much I enjoy creating pieces of art that try to represent the world around me that I love. I spend much of my time looking and observing the beautiful plants, animals and landscapes in my area. It is the details in these that I like to capture with my brushes, pencils, paints and pastels. Each day gifts me with something that I may not have noticed before and my walks become a time for finding simple little treasures that I might photograph, write about and store in my notes for a future idea. I am passionate about my local area and believe that if we all took care of what was immediately in our local region, our communities, both people and the environment, then our whole world would be a better place. While Australia is my home, I love to travel and see other places. Sometimes these might appear in my work, especially those places and countries where I feel connected through earlier generations of my family. These places, with their people, plants, animals and landscapes resonate within me and make me thankful for connections, other times and other places. It is truly a privilege to experience this life.
