Hibiscus tiliaceus

from $102.30

The Australian native Hibiscus tiliaceus is also known as a beach hibiscus.

Found along beach fronts and in coastal tidal creeks, this hibiscus has extraordinary branch angles in mature trees, and extrafloral nectaries on the sepals and the veins on the back of the leaf. These attract ants, that then protect the tree from other animals. The beautifully coloured Harlequin beetle is often a visitor to this plant.

Print created from my original watercolour as part of a series studying traditional medicinal plants of my beach side and coastal dune region.

This is professionally printed on 310gsm smooth cotton rag paper with Epson Ultra Chrome Pro Archival Inks by Left Bank Art Group.
